True Love, Swan Style!
Black Petra, the swan that fell in love with a pedal boat, is back courting her plastic lover after spending the winter in a local zoo in Muenster, Germany. Swans choose a partner for life but this poor thing, a rare Black Australian swan named Petra, was apparently "imprinted" with the boat, which is shaped like a swan, and spent last summer swooning after it, to the delight of park visitors. Winter came, and when Petras pedal boat lover refused to fly south for the winter, Petra also remained, a move that could have killed her as the cold weather arrived. In the end, a local zoo took pity on the swan and gave her and her boat boyfriend a place to spend the winter. Biologists this week introduced her to a group of actual male swans to see if she would mate, but the boys attacked her and she went haughtily back to the dock where her true love was tied up. This week, with the warmer weather, the pair were once again released to the lake together. Ah, spring is in the air!

Monday Morning Grin: Condom Sponsors? What'll they think of next? Remember when Cable TV started up (showing my age here)? No commercials! That was the "draw"... commercial free TV. Then there was the internet... started out clean... now has commercials everywhere. Well, get used to it. Ads are everywhere, and they're not going to disappear any time soon. Before you know it, they'll start placing ads.... on condom packages.

World's tallest man finds true love
The worlds tallest man has finally found a mate - and she barely comes up to his elbow! Bao Xishun, who is seven feet nine inches tall (2.36 meters), is the tallest living man, according to the Guiness Book of Records. He lives in Chifeng, in Chinas Inner Mongolia region, and makes a living herding livestock and hiring out for publicity stunts. Bao has been seeking a bride for years. At last, at the age of 56, he has found his true love in his own home town! Mr Bao had searched far and wide for a suitable wife. After sending out marriage advertisements across the world and going through a long selection process, the efforts have finally paid off, the Beijing News said. Bao heard back from 20 interested women, but in the end, his hunt ended on his own doorstep. The Chinese herdsman has married Xia Shujuan, a 29-year-old sales clerk in a clothing store. It is the first marriage for both. Xia is only five feet six inches tall (1.68 meters)! After a one-month courtship, the couple decided to get married, and will have a full ceremony this summer. Xia said that as they got to know each other, she stopped noticing how tall Bao was and was moved instead by his thoughtfulness, state media said. "It's what's on the inside that counts". *** Delve into our great collection of true love tales at Love Stories...

Just Plain True Love
We came across a collection of Valentines Day messages several weeks back, and this one by David Woon really caught our eye: Of his wife, Lynn Taye, he says: She is not divinely beautiful; shes not exceptionally intelligent; shes not heroically noble; shes not angelically nice; and shes definitely not the most fun person one would like to be with, but shes completely, eternally mine - my forever Valentine. Because on Feb 10, 2001, I made the commitment to love and honour her for the rest of my life. Its as simple as that; nothing fanciful, nothing earth-shattering, just plain True Love. So often today, people looking for love put so many restrictions on the whole damn thing. When filling out their online dating questionnaire, they specify that their sweetie-to-be must fulfill certain criteria. He must be tall, she must be pretty, he must be between 25 and 35, she must be college educated. Like you're ordering up a pizza or something. But David, a self described researcher, philosopher and theologian, tells a different tale. He doesn't expect his true love to be all that. He readily accepts that she is not that pretty, not that smart, not that noble, and sometimes shes even not that nice. They really do have true love, these two lucky souls. When the looks mellow, the passion cools, the novelty wears off, and tempers occasionally flare; when life sets into a routine and you are stripped of all pretenses, you still find the courage to stick together because you have made that commitment to love and cherish him or her for the rest of your life. How wonderful to be able to count on your best friend for that, no matter what. True love is worth searching for, waiting for, fighting for. It's the pulpy heart of life!

Belated Monday Grin.... Pit Bull VS. Porcupine Sometimes, you just gotta learn when to stop! This pit bull decided he would battle a Porcupine in back of his house. Being both brave and stupid, he ultimately learned the hard way that you can't always win, no matter how tough you are... The veterinarian sedated the dog, and then removed a total of 1,347 quills. The dog survived, and hopefully learned a valuable lesson....... Don't mess with Porcupines !
6 Simple tips for a long, happy love relationship...
Does true love even stand a chance these days? Given today's superficial dating games and out-of-control divorce rates, is there still hope for an eternal love story? We believe it! And here are some simple, easy-to-follow tips you can use in your everyday life to help strengthen your love bond and shoot for "forever": 1. Go on a date at least once a week (no kids allowed). Make romance a priority in your lives. Your children will learn how to become loving adults by watching you two today. 2. "Agree to Disagree"... marriage is about love and commitment, but not about having the same opinions on everything. Keep your own religious, political and philosophical ideas. Differing viewpoints keep things interesting. 3. Maintain physical intimacy... continue to express your love by holding hands, hugging and kissing (even in front of your kids and family). Affectionate gestures impact on a deeper level. 4. Maintain emotional intimacy... continue to share your deepest thoughts, hopes, fears, joys and sorrows with your lover. Rely on each other for honest advice. 5. Eat together... never underestimate the bonding that takes place at the dinner table. 6. Pray together... nothing binds a couple together stronger than sharing their faith. *** For a longer list of most excellent tips for building a happy relationship, visit our: Love Wisdom page
