He said he needs space

Dear Stella,

I am not happy with my live-in partner but I don't want to let him go. He even asked for space from me. He told me that he was happier in his old relationship than with me. I even heard gossip that he's having a very close relationship with one of his girl friends. I know I still love him but I don't know what I'm going to do. Letting him go will be the last choice.

Emily, why try to force him to stay when he is unhappy and "needs space"? He will just resent that, and your chances of a happy ending would be slim.

You even said yourself you were unhappy! Why not let him go for now. Let him have the space and time to see if he misses you and wants you back. If you are meant to be together, he will come back. Holding him by force will not hold his heart.
