When we were in 8th grade, my friends asked me who I would pick if I had to choose a boy in my grade to date. I said "Matt. And he's the only one." They giggled but they kept this to themselves.
2 years later, at the Valentine's day dance, Matt came up to me. It was the first time he had talked to me. He said "Will you dance with me? You're the only one who catches my eye." We danced all night long. Our senior year, we were still sweet on each other. In our yearbook they put "the only ones to stay together all these 3 years". 4 years later, we're out of college and still together. 3 years later he proposed. "Lila will you marry me? You're my only one."
2 years later we had a little girl. "Jana", he said looking over her newborn face "you're our only one". When our baby grew up, her sophomore valentine's dance, she came home with a heart shaped card. I snuck a peek. It said "Jana, you're my only one valentine today and forever. Love, Sam"
That's such a nice story, it really warms my heart. Thanks for sharing

To the earlier poster(s): Sam is a boy who wrote a valentine to Jana, who is the daughter of the author and Matt. It comes full circle, you see? First Matt is the author's only one, then the author is Matt's only one, then later Jana is their only one, and finally Jana gets a valentine proclaiming her to be this boy's "only one."
